First Devlog


Well here we are... my first commercial game. I'm pretty much going to sum up what I've developed so far, what I need to do and how long it'll roughly take. You can check out the game announcement here or check out it's steam page here.

Basically, INVERT By SlushyRH is a rage inducing precision platformer with no checkpoints. I've been developing this since I released the game jam version. If you didn't know, this game was originally made for a game jam, you can check out that version here, but I remade it from scratch.

What I have done so far? I have programmed everything a game to make it more readable and neat, hopefully resulting in less bugs and I have made the art a lot more polished. So far in development, I have pretty much finished all the gameplay and most of the map is done too! About half of it to be specific.

What I need to do? I still need to add UI which includes a pause screen as well as the main menu. I also need to add sound effects and music to it too as well as just general polish. I want to try to remove as much bugs as I possibly can and so far that is going good, I haven't encountered any except one in which the player gets stuck inside of platformers if they timed to invert mechanic to be perfectly lined up with a platform. That should hopefully be a simple fix as I understand how it works, just haven't had time to fix it.

How long will this game take to develop? I don't have a exact date yet but the game should be released somewhere between December 2023 - February 2024. I say this because currently I'm in University until November and then I have two holidays, one in late December and the other in mid January and I don't want to release the game while on holiday or in Uni in case some game killing bug occurs and I can't fix it.
